23 November 2011 Cambodia Workshop Statement

The Cambodia Workshop on the Implementation of the 2007 ASEAN Declaration on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Migrant Workers (ADMW) involved over 80 participants and over 50 civil society organisations (CSOs) working with migrant workers (NGOs, trade unions, recruitment agencies and the media).

However, in practice, fulfilling this role has become a challenge. Civil Society Reps meet Chair of ASEAN Committee of Permanent Representatives

The 10 CSO representatives including the the TFAMW Convenor meet and submit the recommendations to the CPR chair. The TFAMW deliver its recommendation on the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the protection and promotion of the rights of the migrant workers. TFAMW also request the CPR to support the participation of CSO groups in the ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour.
